NAIT Convocation

Today is a more personal blog post. On May 2 I graduated from NAIT! I was enrolled in their two year Photographic Technology Program and loved every minute of it!

I knew since I was in about grade 10 that photography was what I wanted to pursue and soon after I knew that NAIT was the school I wanted to go to. As soon as I started I was overwhelmed by all of the incredible talent of all of my classmates and had no idea what I had got myself into. I soon made some of the best friends I will ever have and have no idea what I am going to do come next September when I no longer get to see their smiling faces everyday. We went through a lot together and survived the stress of thesis and portfolio, among many other assignments, which made us all grow closer. I also had some amazing instructors that have played a huge part on who I am today and my photography work. They have helped in so many ways that I can't thank them enough for.

Graduating was a crazy feeling. After all the time I spent working to get into this program and all the time spent in the program it was over in the blink of an eye. I barely even remember walking across the stage. Once I sat back down everything just felt surreal. I will not go back to the studios and labs where the greater part of the last two years has been spent and I will not see everyone all together in the same room again. I am very proud of myself for pursing my dream even when others told me not to and that it was a useless program and diploma to earn.

I am so thankfully for my family for supporting me through school and helping me acheive this. I also am grateful for all of the knowledge and support from each and everyone of my instructors and classmates. You all will be lifelong friends that have impacted me in a huge way. As well as all of my other friends for supporting me and helping me with assignments or just being there to calm me down when I was stressing to the max. Each and everyone of you I want you to know how much you all mean to me and how important you all are to me. <3

These past two years have been some of the best of my life and I will never forget them.

As for what the future has in store, this summer I am back living in Whitecourt and building up my photography business. In September I will be returing back to NAIT to attend their one year Graphic Communication program and after that I have no clue! I plan to pursue photography and aim to make it my full time career. I will just wait and see what the future has in store for me and where my passion takes me next.
